MeterMiser

Terms of Service

Effective May 20, 2026

1. Who we are

MeterMiser is a service operated by sokkos, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “MeterMiser”). By creating an account or using the service, you (“you” or “the customer”) agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2. What the service does

MeterMiser is an informational tool that helps you track residential electric and natural gas supplier rates, contract expiration dates, and potential savings from switching suppliers. We aggregate publicly available rate data from sources like state public utility commission websites (e.g. Ohio PUCO's Apples-to-Apples) and present it alongside your account information.

We are not an energy supplier, broker, or utility company. We do not enter contracts on your behalf. Any decision to switch suppliers is yours and is made directly with the supplier you choose.

3. Plans and billing

We offer four plans: Free, Standard ($36/year), Family ($72/year), and Real Estate ($50/month, up to 25 properties). Plan details and feature entitlements are shown on the pricing page and your account page.

Auto-renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period (yearly for Standard and Family, monthly for Real Estate) using the payment method on file. The renewal charge equals the then-current list price of your plan.

Plan changes. Upgrades (e.g. Standard → Family, Family → Real Estate) take effect immediately. You are charged the full new plan price at the time of upgrade and your billing cycle resets to that date. Unused time on your previous plan is credited as a separate line on the upgrade invoice.

Downgrades are not supported mid-cycle. If you want to switch to a lower-priced plan, cancel your current plan (see §4). Your current plan stays active until your renewal date, after which you drop to the Free plan. You may then subscribe to a different paid plan if you wish.

4. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel a paid plan at any time from the Billing Portal linked from your dashboard. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period — your plan stays active and all paid features remain available until that date. After that date, your account reverts to the Free plan.

No refunds. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, unused time, or unused features. This includes:

  • Pro-rated refunds when cancelling mid-cycle
  • Refunds for plan features you didn't end up using
  • Refunds because you forgot to cancel before a renewal

We will, at our discretion, consider refunds in cases of clear billing errors on our side (e.g. duplicate charges, a charge to the wrong account). Contact us at the address in §11 if you believe you've been incorrectly billed.

5. Free plan

The Free plan is offered indefinitely and at no cost. Features available on the Free plan may change from time to time as we develop the service. We will not retroactively charge Free-plan customers for past use.

6. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You agree not to share your account with others, and to notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

The data you enter (utility accounts, supplier rates, contract dates, etc.) is associated with your account and visible only to you and to authorized MeterMiser staff. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, copy, or redistribute the rate data presented in the service for commercial purposes
  • Use the service to abuse, harass, or impersonate any utility, supplier, or other person
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or to our systems
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

8. Data accuracy disclaimer

We work hard to keep supplier rate data accurate, but we cannot guarantee it. Rates change frequently, public utility commission sites occasionally have errors, and our automated collection can have gaps or delays. Always verify the current terms with the supplier directly before signing a contract.

Savings figures shown in the service are estimates based on your reported usage and current rate data. Actual savings will depend on your real usage, additional fees not reflected in our database, and supplier-specific terms.

9. Limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, sokkos, LLC and its officers, members, and employees are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any direct damages will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify customers by email at the address on file and update the Effective Date above. Continued use of the service after the new Terms take effect constitutes acceptance.
